PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, December 31, 2007
Salvatore Calvino, Kevin Worley and existing owner, Larry Hopkins
today announced the purchase of Integrated Deicing Services,
LLC (IDS). The new IDS management team will include: Sal Calvino
as Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Worley as President and Larry
Hopkins (founder of IDS) as the Chief Operating Officer. The
purchase includes five existing operations in the US with expansion
plans in both domestic and international markets.
IDS provides deicing coverage for 1100 flights daily to most
major airlines in the following five airports: Buffalo, NY (BUF);
Colorado Springs, CO (COS); Detroit, MI (DTW); Minneapolis,
MN (MSP); Pittsburgh, PA (PIT). IDS is widely known for its
environmentally conscious use of "forced air technology"
which uses high volumes of air to assist with the deicing process,
thus minimizing the glycol fluid use. This process reduces operational
expense, environmental concerns and lowers environmental remediation
fees at airports. IDS is the largest user of "forced air"
deicing trucks worldwide.
IDS will work closely with Quantem Aviation Services (QAS)
an aviation service provider for the major domestic and international
airlines. Salvatore Calvino, owner of QAS, started the company
in 2000 and has grown the network to sixteen (16) locations
throughout the US. "The combination of IDS and QAS and the culture
that each of these companies share in the form of Quality and
Teamwork, will allow us to enhance our customer relationships
with the airlines and airports we serve across our twenty-one
(21) city network. Because of these synergies, we'll be able
to accelerate the growth of IDS and QAS, and reduce the seasonality
of the combined operations", said Salvatore Calvino.
"IDS was built on a solid foundation by company founder Larry
Hopkins and we look forward to building on the core fundamentals
and environmentally conscious culture that is IDS today", said
Kevin Worley, he continued, "We look forward to expanding on
this tradition in the future and at all new locations".
In keeping with the state of the art technology IDS uses a
computer simulator-training program for initial and recurrent
training of its employees. "The ability to use computer simulation
during initial and recurrent training of employees is a real
market advantage over our competitors" said Larry Hopkins. All
IDS aircraft deicing personnel spend extensive hours of classroom
and simulator training to ensure the proficiency necessary to
operate the "forced air" deicing trucks.
