IDS DEICES 10,000 PLANES FOR A SEASON RECORD

DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- Integrated Deicing Services here announced today that they have safely deice 10,000  airplanes for this season on March, 24, 2011. This is a quite an accomplishment for a relatively young company who five years ago deiced just over 4,000 at Wayne County Airport.

Deicing an airplane is no small task. There are so many working parts to “clean” one airplane. First, there is the safety of the passengers and crew. Then one must operate heavy equipment in usually inclement weather without doing any damage to the plane. And of course there is always time pressure to stay on schedule. Now do it 10,000 times.

From the company's international headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire President and CEO Sal Calvino said, "our people in Detroit are among the best in the business. They are highly skilled and perform extremely well as a team. You cannot deice 10,000 airplanes without the kind of leadership that Station Manager Dave LeLand provides. I am very proud of him and his whole crew."

IDS employs approximately 150 people from the area. They use Forced-air technology that saves the carriers money because they use a lot less glycol with their technique. This method is better for the environment as well. The company operates 10 stations in the United States and was just added to The INC. 5,000 list of fastest growing companies, coming in at 1,016.
