IDS takes delivery of a Glycol Recovery Vehicle(GRV)

IDS, in partnership with Global Ground Support, LLC., has taken delivery of a Glycol Recovery Vehicle (GRV). This vehicle will be utilized at a major airport in the Northeastern United States (to be announced later this month) to assist the Airport Authority in testing the amount of glycol being used at various parts of the airport under various weather conditions. The glycol-impacted storm water will be collected by the GRV immediately following an aircraft deicing event. The use of this data will be shared with the Airport Authority for use in its airport-wide glycol recovery program for the Airport.

IDS is primarily known as a “deicer” company; however, as Sal Calvino, President of IDS, stated at a recent trade show, “The impact that IDS has at airports can drastically help reduce the amount of glycol spent into the environment. This process begins by using the latest technology and training to spray up to 40% less than other deicing companies. However, it does not stop there. IDS has the capability to pick up the spent glycol and then to process the glycol to bring it back to a reusable state.” Sal Calvino when on to conclude, “Not only are laws going to dictate to this industry what we must do when it comes to putting, or better said, not putting glycol into our environment, but just as important, it is just the right thing to do and IDS will be a leader in this area.”
